Has recorded major handicap wins over hurdles, fences and on the Flat, the latter when coming from mid-division in the 31-runner Cesarewitch at Newmarket (2m2f, soft) last October; 6lb higher today and off since November but he needs plenty of respect.

Runner-up in the 2020 St Leger and won on AW (2m) last January; has a mixed record since, the best of which were his two good runs last August when second here (2m; will stay further) and fifth in the Ebor; that form gives him a shout and his latest start was a step back in the right direction, but he does not look the percentage call.

Met lots of trouble in running when sixth in this race on good to firm in 2022; high-class hurdler (placed in last two editions of the County Hurdle at Cheltenham Festival) who showed that he's still a force on the Flat when staying on relentlessly for a close second of 31 to The Shunter in the Cesarewitch at Newmarket (2m2f, soft) last October;

Nearly always ridden these days by Kaiya Fraser; last season went well, including winning on varied ground in three of her five turf starts, and she improved again when easy winner of a quite valuable handicap at Haydock (2m, soft) last month; 9lb higher today but she's far from fully exposed at 2m and could be a serious proposition at this trip as well.

Four Flat wins in France up to 10.5f on softer than good; failed to get his head in front where it matters in his nine races for the now-suspended Tony Martin but he's started to knock on the door very loudly; seemed to be outbattled in 2m3f maiden hurdle here in March, but travelled strongly in rear and flew home all to late when close third of 16 in the Chester Cup (2m2f, good to firm) on return to Flat; that puts him high on the list and William Buick won this race in 2021 and 2023.

Won over 1m4f (soft) and 10.5f (AW) in France; 110,000euros buy last July and pretty useful at the first attempt over hurdles when pipped at Killarney (2m4f) five weeks ago; there's plenty of the stayer about this Irish St Leger entry who comes from a yard which requires maximum attention in this race.

Moving up to 1m5f did the trick at Newbury (good) last July and he also won going away twice over 1m6f at Chelmsford (AW) late last year; never figured after starting slowly in valuable AW race when upped to 2m at Newcastle in March, but he asserted in grand style to score easing down at Salisbury (1m6f, soft; up 10lb today) last month to suggest he could still develop into a very useful stayer.

Won over 1m6f (good to soft) last August on final start in Germany, where he'd earlier been third in a 1m3f Group 2; failed to pull up any trees in hurdles campaign for Tony Charlton, also tailed-off third in a Flat race on the snow at St Moritz, so plenty of speculation would be required to see him as a leading contender.

AHORSEWITHNONAME, who won a Listed hurdle at Cheltenham in April on her previous start, had an uninterrupted run against the far rail and turned in her best effort over the longest trip she’s tackled in this sphere to make it a fifth Flat win. Calling The Wind wasn’t beaten far in the Chester Cup last time, ran well under his capable apprentice back up in trip on this less-demanding surface. With more Chester Cup form on show with Tritonic back in third and Law Of The Seas the fourth home.
