Key trends
Other factors
Two of the four not to have won over the trip were trained by Wesley Ward – one had won over 4½f, while the other was still a maiden.
There were two groups, with a big advantage to the stands’ side group. CRIMSON ADVOCATE looked set to win well over a furlong out, she was clinging on at the line. Maybe her connections will be tempted to stick her in the Nunthorpe, with York not having the stiff finish of Ascot. Relief Rally was 2-2 coming in, rather found herself following the wrong one (the fifth horse) into the closing stages, and she also had to be switched to the left of the winner to challenge. Beautiful Diamond came in off just a Nottingham maiden win a fortnight earlier, whereas the first two already had two starts. She was beaten fair and square but is reportedly still a bit weak.
