What happened in the Sandringham Stakes last year?
COPPICE won quite comfortably on her handicap debut, aided by her high draw and her irrepressible rider. She went off favourite for the Nell Gwyn although she didn’t perform in the soft ground that day. Breege, seventh to Tahiyra in the Irish Guineas, ran on well from the back to finish second having been dropped into handicap company. Balalaika had raced prominently on most of her previous starts but was dropped out right at the back and it brought about a big performance, with the filly’s stamina not in any doubt.
